Main task - this is compulsory:

Write 200 to 300 words in French, German or Spanish:

1. as an imaginative response to a foreign song or music of your choice.  You can find a good selection of songs and music in different languages on our music page. The response can be in the form of a poem, a letter about the song to a friend, a review for a student magazine, or some original lyrics of your own.  You don't need to understand all the words of a song to be able to make your response.

or

2. as a comment about an item of news in a newpaper/magazine or on the radio/tv.  You can find a good selection of news items in different languages on our newspaper , magazine, tv and radio pages.  The comment can be in the form of a letter to a friend, a review for a student magazine, or an entry in a personal diary.   You don't need to understand all the words of a news item to be able to make your comment.  Try to use any photos and the headlines to help you understand the news items.

Credit will be given to entries for correct spelling & grammar, clarity of expression, logical development of ideas, humour, colourful expressions and use of colloquialisms.  Students in the 16+ category will be expected to produce longer and better quality entries.
